Hope you all had a great christmas.
Mum has acreage at the base of the Wattagan Mountains, about 90 mins away from where I live.
We went there for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with the family.
Christmas Eve is also my brother Grahams birthday .
The back yard looked like tent city with the family all there for Christmas.
Steve,Gavin,Jade,Kortana,Mica,Erin and James .
Missing were Stuart,Bri,Audrey (in Queensland with Bri's parents) and Dean (in England)and Dad as always you were in our hearts .
With just under 50 people ranging in age from 78 years to 11 months old , spanning four generations my Christmas was wonderful . Way too much food, lots of presents and most importantly the family.
It is true that many hands make light work with everyone chipping in too help with cooking and cleaning .
Thankyou too my family I had a great Christmas .
Can 't wait till next year as I will have my first Grandchild to spoil.
To Megan and Ando enjoy your holiday in Europe and don't forget to give Dean all those hugs I sent.
I now have to get back into my leatherwork , I have orders to do .
Christmas Morning 2011
I awoke to my nieces and nephews telling me Santa had been .
He had definately been, Mum's whole lounge room was full of presents over two foot deep.
Oh what a feeling
To see and hear happy , excited children on Christmas Morning.
I am a very lucky person to have a family like I do, love you all.

Good Morning All,
Today my web page is 6 months old.
I have had 2182 visitors and 5213 page views.
Thank you .
It has been a busy time for me since my last post.
I have had a market stall at Blacktown Moonlight Markets and Kingswood Food and Craft Markets. The response too my work has been very positive and by the interaction with the wonderful people that I met I now know that their favourite pieces are the same as mine so I'm on the right path.
Handcarved , Stamped and Painted Leather Items are not overly common in Australia and it was lovely to see how much people admired and appreciated my craft.
I had the pleasure of meeting Larissa from Canada. We arranged for her to collect her wallet while she was here on a visit. Larissa, hope you enjoyed Sydney and the rest of your time in New Zealand.
I am now busy completing the last of my orders for Christmas. Then I must begin creating some new pieces to enter in the Royal Easter Show.
Personailized Handmade Leather items make great gifts for Birthdays,so even though you have finished your Christmas shopping, keep Leather Art by Janelle in mind for those special occassions throughout the year.
On a personal note I am bubbling with excitement as I am going too be a Nana for the first time in June. Congratulations to my son-in-law James and my beautiful daughter Erin . Me ,my husband Steve and sons Gavin and Dean are over the moon.

Hello to everyone in Heythuysen
Over the last couple of months most of my visitors have been from Heythuysen
I admit I had never heard of Heythuysen ( long way from Australia) until it kept popping up on my visitors list.
Please drop me a line and tell me about you and your interests
Look forward to hearing from you.
I also have had an order from Canada, I am looking forward to meeting Larissa when she gets to Australia in a couple of weeks.
I am going to do my first markets on Thursday night 1/12/11
Leather Art by Janelle will be at the Blacktown Moonlight Markets
4pm to 8pm
I am busy making a few items which I can sell a bit cheaper on the night and hopefully I will get some custom orders as well.
I will put some new pictures up over the next couple of days.
You still have time to place orders for Christmas
Handcraved and Painted Leather Wallets make a great gift and I can personalise them with initials or name.
Depending on your location and allowing for postage it would best to order asap to guarantee delivery before Christmas.

Christmas is approching very fast.
I am fairly organised so have plenty of time for last minute orders.
I will be having shoulder surgery in late January and the result of this will be 6 weeks in a sling and then I imagine another couple of weeks for physio before I'm back at my leatherwork so if you would like to order anything please let me know as soon as possible so that i can have it made before then.
I have listed a few new items in my for sale section so drop in and take a look.
I was really pleased with the Handcarved and Painted Leather Organiser, tried some new paints and love the results.
I will be listing some leather wristbands soon, handcarved and painted patterns, moulded flowers and celtic designs .
I am also doing some items to be enter in the Royal Easter Show at the moment.
So drop back soon and check out my new creations .

It has been 4 months since I started my website and as of this morning I have now had 1008 visitors.
Thank you all so much .
I hope that you have enjoyed your visits and please if you stop by let me know.
It has taken me over 30 years to get to this point in my life and would love it if my business could be as profitable as it is enjoyable .
Working with leather, the smell, the feel and the way that I can fashion it into almost anything I can imagine gives me a feeling of great achievment.
I sit down at my work bench and lose all sense of time .
I am drawn into another place where I am mezmorised by the item I am creating, until I am happy with the result.
An average item can take up to anywhere between 4 to 12 hours to make, larger or more complicated items much longer,it is such a good feeling when I have actually completed the project , no two items ever turn out the same.
The cost of producing the items is considerable as they are all real leather.
I try to keep the cost reasonable, I do not set a price on the time involved in making the item, only on the cost of the materials.
Leather is very durable and will last for years and years.
The first wallet I made my mum in the 80's has only been replaced in the last year, so 25+ years and still looked ok.
So as I reminded you all last time Christmas is just around the corner, why not consider a handcarved or stamped leather wallet as a gift for a friend or family member.
It can be completely designed to suit the individual. Initals, name, favourite sports team or band logo, zodiac sign or masons. These are just a few possible ideas so if you have a picture of something you would like put on a wallet please send it to me and let me see what I can do, I love a challange.
Mens and Ladies Handcarved ,Stamped,Painted or Dyed Leather wallets are $100 -$150
I am in the process of trying to make up a few different designs that are available in Handmade Leather Handbags so check out the For Sale section. Once again they can be personalized or have a different colour scheme to suit the individual.
Ladies or Girls Handcarved ,Stamped,Painted or Dyed Leather Handbags range in price
from $60 to $500+
If at all possible I line my handbags with soft pigskin suede, in some designs this isn't possible and in that case the interior is dyed.
As every item I make is done by me by hand.
Custom orders for Christmas will need to be placed as soon as possible to allow time for completion and postage .
I call Leather Art by Janelle my business but it is really my passion . If I sell one item it allows me to get the materials to make the next one , which allows me to keep creating, which makes me happy.
Looking forward to you dropping by again and again.
I'm heading back to the make a handcarved and painted ladies wallet ( kelly clutch type) I love this liner and it is so popular.
Have a great weekend

Hope everyone has had a great long weekend.
Mine has been quite but fairly productive.
It has been cold and rainy here most of the weekend so I have settled in at my leathercraft table.
I have finished a custom order for a mens handcarved leather wallet with the Masons design on it,ready to be posted tomorrow.
Next on my list was a passport folder for my son who leaves on Wednesday for a pacific island cruise.
At this stage I decided I would make myself a phone case for my new phone (it is so thin I can never find it) .I added a belt loop to it so I can attach it to my handbag strap.
Major Project of the weekend has been a large handcarved and painted leather handbag.I am nearly finish it so stay tuned I will post pictures soon.
I normally start two or three projects at once .
Carve, tool and paint up to the final process of putting it together.
So with my handbag up to the point of lacing which I will do while watching TV tonight I am now making a handcarved and painted leather Ipad cover and a smaller handcarved leather handbag.
This week brings three more custom orders to be made and a couple of birthday presents for my nieces and nephews .
It is my son -in- law James's birthday on the 11th ,but as yet no idea what to make for him.
Anyway it's back to work for me so enjoy the rest of your weekend.

I recently made these Handcarved Leather Championship Belts
for a fundraising Barefoot Bowls tournament supporting Bandage Bear.
The event was organised and supported by some staff from Blacktown Woolworths and their friends.
A good time was had by all and they raised lots of money for the Bandage Bear
